Thousands expected to flock to La Union for Sillag lights festival – PPMC
Around 150,000 local and foreign tourists are expected to attend this year's Sillag Poro Point Festival of Lights at the Poro Point Freeport Zone in La Union, the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) said today.
Tourism in the province of La Union has grown throughout the years since the annual summer festival was launched in 2012 with just 4,000 attendees. Last year, Sillag attracted 131,000 attendees.
The term “Sillag” is named after the Ilocano word “sellag” which means moonbeam or illumination from the moon.
La Union Celebrates 7th Sillag Poro Point Festival of Lights
The much-awaited summer festival in La Union, SILLAG Poro Point Festival of Lights, is expected to draw in 150,000 visitors to participate in the various activities during the 3-day festival on April 6, 7, and 8 at the Poro Point Freeport Zone, City of San Fernando, La Union.
Launched in 2012, SILLAG Festival is a project of Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union. PPMC is a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.

The amount represents 20 percent of the total P40 billion received by the men and women in uniform from BCDA since the state-run agency was created in 1992.
